WHO SHOULD SIGN UP?
This course is appropriate for those who are curious about meditation, new to mindfulness practices and for experienced meditators looking to dive deeper into meditation practice in community with like-minded individuals. 


WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT?
You can expect to develop a focused and embodied attention, self awareness, emotional intelligence, and greater sense of ease and well being. You will learn a variety of mindfulness meditations and practical ways to integrate mindfulness into daily activities at work, home and in relationships.
 

WHAT TOPICS WILL BE COVERED?

The course includes the following:

  • Training in meditation, developing awareness of breath, body, feelings and thoughts.

  • Managing stress and learning how to shift from reaction to response.

  • Recognizing and letting go of unhelpful habitual thoughts and mind states.

  • Exploring, understanding and working with a range of emotional experience.

ABOUT THE TEACHER
Facilitators trained by the Mindfulness Training Institute offer six-week introductory mindfulness trainings around the world. Melanie is offering this course as a Certified Mindfulness Teacher with the Mindfulness Training Institute (MTI), an IMTA accredited teacher training program.

WHAT'S THE COST?
The cost of the course will be offered on a sliding scale $125 - $240 per person for the 6 weeks.  One work exchange spot is available for anyone interested who cannot pay the suggested amount.

Mindfulness for Therapists

Melanie Pensak, creator of the Mindfulness for Therapists series, would love the honor to guide your staff through mindfulness meditation training specifically tailored to the unique needs of a therapist in the helping profession. This course is appropriate for speech-language pathologists, occupational therapists, physical therapists, educational therapists, and beyond. 

 

Having worked as a pediatric speech-language pathologist for 14 years in private practices in Chicago, Washington, DC, Australia, and Los Angeles, Melanie has experienced first-hand how the demands of a therapy career can impact work-life balance.  Her own experiences with “burnout” fueled her to learn more about mindfulness meditation practices.   

 

After witnessing positive results in her own life, she passionately began sharing these tools with adults, children, and therapists in the pediatric therapy world. 

 

There is no greater joy than positively helping a child and their family; however, therapists often forget or feel guilty giving to themselves first.  Cultivating a mindfulness practice helps to improve attention, emotional regulation, listening skills, efficiency, communication, and overall job satisfaction.

 

Melanie offers mindfulness sessions in 6 -8 week cycles lasting 30, 45, or 60 minutes depending on your clinic’s schedule. These sessions are offered before the day begins, over lunch break, or at the end of the day.

One-on-one mindfulness coaching is also available in nature, around LA, or via Zoom. 

Each personalized session focuses on a area of mindfulness, includes a private guided meditation, time for questions, and development of weekly mindful home program.
