Six-Week Introduction Training in Mindfulness (S.I.T.)

WHO SHOULD SIGN UP?
This 6-week S.I.T. course is appropriate for those who are curious about meditation, new to mindfulness practices and for experienced meditators looking to dive deeper into practice in community with like-minded individuals.

WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT?
Sessions will provide guidance on how to cultivate focused and embodied attention, self-awareness, emotional intelligence and a greater sense of ease and well being.  You will learn a variety of mindfulness meditations and practical ways to integrate mindfulness into daily activities at work, home and in relationships.

WHAT TOPICS WILL BE COVERED?

The course includes the following:

  • Training in meditation, developing awareness of breath, body, feelings and thoughts.

  • Managing stress and learning how to shift from reaction to response.

  • Recognizing and letting go of unhelpful habitual thoughts and mind states.

  • Exploring, understanding and working with a range of emotional experience.

  • Cultivating the qualities of kindness, love and self -compassion.

Mindfulness for Therapists

The Mindfulness for Therapists course guides your staff through a mindfulness meditation training specifically tailored to the unique needs of a therapist in the helping profession.  It is appropriate for speech-language pathologists, occupational therapists, physical therapists, educational therapists and beyond.

Melanie’s history includes practicing as a pediatric speech-language pathologist for 15 years in private practices in Chicago, DC, Australia and Los Angeles.  She experienced first-hand how the demands of a therapy career can impact work-life balance.  Her own experiences with “burnout” fueled her to learn more about mindfulness practices.  After witnessing positive results in her own life, she passionately began sharing these tools with adults, children and therapists in the pediatric therapy world.

There is no greater joy than positively helping a child and their family; however, therapists often forget or feel guilty giving to themselves first.  Cultivating a mindfulness practice can help improve attention, emotional regulation, listening skills, efficiency, communication and overall job satisfaction.

The course can be offered in 4 – 8 week cycles lasting 30, 45 or 60 minutes depending on your organization’s schedule. These sessions are offered currently via Zoom at a time that works for you.
